Bathroom Designers Charlotte

Frameless showers, sunken tubs, wood-like tile, glass mosaics, and exotic marbles aren't the only choices a homeowner has to make when splurging on a bathroom remodel. In Charlotte, as elsewhere, most of the cost for remodeling a bathroom comes from labor. That's why hiring a qualified professional is a make-or-break step.

Bathroom remodeling contractors worth their salt know things like how to prevent water seeping through the structure, even in tiny amounts, because someday you'll have extensive damage that doesn't repair easily. They also need to have design savvy, so that the big bucks you spend get you the feel you're after, such as a spa-like atmosphere or layers of understated elegance.

This list names 15 of the best Charlotte contractors who can deliver on all of those things. They know, for example, that atmosphere is wonderful, but that a successful bathroom design must manage bathroom remodeling costs and have functionality at its heart. The ranking reflects the contractors' high-end clients, budgets without limits, and craftsmanship that's hard to match .

Stuart Brown Custom Construction does not hire project managers.

"Marble in a Modern Bath" is the name Eddie DeRhodes, owner of DeRhodes Construction, gave to the bath remodeling masterpiece that earned him a CotY Award in 2013. The project features a neutral color palette, shades of gray throughout the marble countertops and mosaic tiles, a powder room-styled desk and chair, and an adjacent closet.

That wasn't the company's first CotY Award for stunning bathroom design. In 2011, the gold-tinged "Historic Bath," which captured a CotY Award in the over $60,000 category, featured a dual flush wall-hung toilet, walk-in closets, and crystal chandeliers. Their 2012 CotY award for residential bath under $60,000 had tempered glass vessel sinks and a vanity with an antique chair.

DeRhodes' business is large, but he chooses to work only in Charlotte. That, he says, is the only way he can maintain control and provide the superior construction that brings him customers through word of mouth. DeRhodes started the company in 2004, about 20 years after earning his bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. DeRhodes's singular approach to business has fetched his company more than 16 awards in its 13-year existence.

David Tyson & Associates is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler who handles projects throughout Charlotte, Matthews, Myers Park, and Pineville. In Ballantyne, Tyson completed a master bath suite that featured an air jet tub under-mounted with Quartz.

The curbless shower was built with a trough drain and glass mosaics covering the walls. For a Berkley home, Tyson remodeled a master bath with Robern medicine cabinets, Vermont marble countertops, and a steam shower.  And in Lake Norman, Tyson crafted a shower room out of an old closet. The shower featured body sprays on each side that were tailored to fit the height of each homeowner. A turquoise strip of mosaic tile ran down the center shower wall and around the tub. Soap niches were recessed, and a handheld shower was kept in place with a marble mount. Cherrywood cabinets with marble countertops were used for a vanity area, and a nearby mirror was fitted with matching cherry trim. Two front elevation windows maximize natural light, while an acrylic glass block ensures privacy when using the soaking tub.

1. Tile Collection

Featured Professionals: Elaine Creasser & Matt Creasser
Address: 11200 Carolina Place Parkway, Pineville, NC 28134

Tile Collection's reputation as Charlotte's premier bathroom remodeling company has been going strong since the company's start in 1992. She told a local Charlotte Business Journal that by 2007, annual revenue in the showroom had climbed to $13M.

The company remains in the Creasser family. Elaine's son, Matt, is even the one to show up at a client's house to give free estimates and answer questions.
